From a background in graphic design, branding and communications, Antti pursued his passion for architecture, achieving a first-class BSc Hons in Architectural Technology. Hailing from Finland, where building in timber is a prevalent construction method, he places high value in simple harmonic aesthetics, energy efficiency, functionality, and the overall Scandinavian approach to design. With a personal goal to encourage efficient and sustainable building, Antti makes a fine addition to our architectural design team.
Asher leads our construction design team. He started his time with the company on work experience, was offered a permanent position after just two weeks, and hasn’t looked back since. From the start, Asher showed the potential to be not just a brilliant technician, but also a well-liked and respected member of our team. After successfully completing a Modern Apprenticeship, Asher went on to complete a Graduate Apprenticeship, achieving a first class BSc Hons in Architectural Technology. He was appointed Construction Design Director in July 2024.
Bernard has been designing timber frame homes for over 45 years. His vast work portfolio includes hundreds of designs for clients throughout the UK and abroad. As Head Designer, Bernard oversees all Fleming Homes’ design work, ensuring that we continually excel in meeting quality standards for timber frame homes.
Brodie joined Fleming Homes in June 2023. His design skill (achieving first class BSc in Architectural Technology from Napier University), significant customer service experience and friendly demeanour means he has slotted seamlessly into our talented construction design team. Apart from architecture and design, Brodie’s passion is snowboarding. He spent the 2021-22 winter season in Austria and, whenever the weather permits, loves to hit the slopes closer to home.
Craig joined Fleming Homes in November 2016, accruing experience in our factory, with our planning and building regulations team, and as a construction design technician. In August 2022, he travelled on secondment to New Zealand, where he worked in the timber frame industry for 12 months. He returned in September 2023 bringing his wide experience to our Operations Team. Teamwork is important to Craig both in the office and on the rugby field where he plays for the Melrose 1XV.
David (affectionately known as “Hutch”) began his career on the factory floor before transitioning to an office-based role, where he managed project scheduling and after-sales support. Since April 2021, he has played a key role in site preparation and operations, working closely with customers and erectors to ensure sites are ready for the delivery and erection of their timber frame. In addition to site preparations, Hutch oversees health and safety across both our construction sites and factory space, ensuring best practices are followed to create safe and efficient working environments.
Dave brings an excellent mix of exemplary CAD skills and a natural flair for design – the attention to detail of a top technician, and the artistic eye of a quality designer. He’s also a lively character and keeps us smiling in the office!
Douglas is a highly experienced timber frame construction designer, who has worked on everything from bespoke homes to office blocks. When he is not designing in front of a computer you’ll find him behind the wheel of a fast car, on a motorbike (he is an instructor at CBT level), or participating in mixed martial arts.
Ethan began his journey with Fleming Homes as part of a flexible work experience placement during his final year at Berwickshire High School. He joined the company full time in August 2019 and immediately began a Modern Apprenticeship in Architectural Technology which he completed with stellar graded units. Today he’s a key member of our planning & building regulations team.
Fiona joined Fleming Homes following a successful career in hospitality. Ensuring a friendly and generous welcome is firmly baked into who Fiona is. If you are self-building in Scotland, she will most likely be your first point of contact during the sales process.
Hayden learned the timber frame trade on the factory floor, and rose to become an experienced construction design technician, company director and then company owner. His passion for self-build underpins all his work, and particularly his commitment to making sure Fleming Homes continually delivers outstanding products and service.
Jason works across our sales and operations functions. A member of the Fleming Homes’ team since 2013, his extensive experience in the timber frame industry and his passion for successful self-builds make him a valuable resource for any self-builder to tap into.
John joined the Fleming Homes’ factory team in October 2023. His first-hand experience of our manufacturing process combined with more than 20 years experience in customer service, made for a smooth transition into our Construction Design Team in July 2024. John is an avid outdoor enthusiast who, when he’s not at work, is happiest scaling a mountain or exploring in his campervan with his family and dogs.
Josh isn’t slow in coming forwards in his role on the pitch for Duns RFC’s first XV. A great team player, he brings this energy and enthusiasm for supporting others to work with him, alongside a will to win. Josh will do anything for anyone making him an asset to any self-builder navigating the tricky planning and building regulations landscape.
A self-builder in her own right, Lisa joined Fleming Homes in 2023. She has over 20 years of experience in sales and customer service, having previously run her own online estate agency. With a passion for property and customer care, Lisa hopes to make working with us as fun and stress-free as possible.
Marisa keeps the Fleming Homes office running smoothly week in, week out. She also manages our finance function ensuring our suppliers are paid on time, issuing our client invoices, and assisting with our stock management process.
Max joined the team in February 2022 bringing with him 20 years of experience in construction sales. He is passionate about low-energy building methods and products and can regularly be found working from our office at The National Self Build & Renovation Centre, Swindon – although call ahead to arrange a meeting as he is often on the road meeting customers across England & Wales.
Mike’s overwhelming strength is his ability to instantly relate to people and their projects. His helpful and approachable demeanour is matched by over 30 years’ expertise in the timber frame industry, and unrivalled passion for the traditional values of self-build.
Pawel joined Fleming Homes’ panel fabrication team in January 2008 and is one of our most experienced fabricators. In 2018 we were sad to lose him when he decided to return to Poland with his family; however, we were delighted to be able to tempt him back to the UK in August 2019 to head up our factory team.
Sally is co-owner of Fleming Homes. She has been around the business for as long as she can remember; Mike is her Dad and she’s also married to Hayden. Ever cheerful, Sally plays a key role in maintaining the admin for the company’s H&S function and Health & Safety Committee.
Sarah joined Fleming Homes as Managing Director in 2017. Prior to this, she served the company as a Non-Executive Director and Marketing Consultant. Today Sarah feels privileged to lead a team that goes the extra mile every day for each other and for our customers.
Scott heads our planning and building regulations service. His technical expertise is matched by a tireless enthusiasm for securing planning permissions. Scott deals with councils throughout the UK, and has one of the trickiest roles in the company – although he doesn’t show it! With Scott, you can count on two things: he’s always got a smile on his face, and he always gets the job done. In July 2024, Scott was appointed Director of Planning & Building Regulations.
Vanda joined Fleming Homes in 2023 with a background in architecture and design and more experience than she cares to admit. She is enthusiastic about her role in supporting the team in all things marketing.
William is an experienced construction design technician. Embracing our company values of ambition and growth, he is currently working towards achieving Chartered Architectural Technologist status with CIAT.
Our Erectors
At Fleming Homes, we work exclusively with trusted teams who embody our values and meet our strict accreditation standards. Each erector must be a skilled joiner, not just a timber frame assembler, ensuring your home is built with the precision, care, and integrity that define our approach.
Andrew has been erecting kits for Fleming Homes from the beginning (1987). He is our longest-serving timber frame erector/joiner. Based in Jedburgh (20 miles from our HQ) Andrew has a solid reputation in the local area. He works in a team of 4 and always develops a close relationship with our customers. You’ll find Andrew extremely conscientious and courteous and he is always grateful to be a part of a customer’s homebuilding story.
Although supremely experienced in all things timber frame erection and joinery, John and Ian are the newest ‘kids’ on the block. Although they erected their first kit for Fleming Homes over twenty years ago, they have only recently rejoined our team of ‘accredited’ erectors in 2021. Both have over 30 years of experience in erecting timber frame homes and joinery work. The third member of their erecting team is Ian’s son Cameron.
John and his team have been working with us since 2020. John is a specialist timber frame joiner who has erected kits for many well-known housebuilders and kit providers throughout Scotland. The team is based in Dunfermline so are well-positioned to service Scotland’s central belt. However, they are equally happy traveling throughout the UK to erect quality bespoke timber frame homes. John is rapidly climbing the ladder of ‘most erected’ Fleming Homes kits, edging into third position on the leader board in 2022.
Michael, Gary, and Andrew are relatively new to erecting Fleming Homes’ kits, but they are hugely experienced erectors. Having worked for other kit manufacturers and capable stick builders, they know their way around a timber frame. Based in Falkirk, they are well-positioned to cover Scotland. Young and enthusiastic, we’ve received nothing but rave reviews from our clients so far.
Paul has worked with Fleming Homes since 2014. He’s partnered with Davie since 2018 almost exclusively on erecting our kits. Of all our crews, Paul and Davie have erected the second-highest number of kits for Fleming Homes. It’s also likely they have travelled the furthest distance; Paul and Davie love discovering new parts of the UK. They have an uncanny ability to create special relationships with our clients and have been shouted dinner by clients more times than any other joiner or employee!
Steven started his timber frame journey as a Fleming Homes panel fabricator before setting up as a joiner. Both Steven and Alan run successful local joinery businesses and have been combining forces to erect our timber frame kits since 2020. They are family men and being local we see them regularly in our offices.
